Many Americans are immigrants by virtue of slavery in the past five centuries while another population is Native American through the expansion of the country. This adds up to many ethnic compositions hence their culture is summarized as mainstream American culture which owes its roots from the colonial settlers in the Europe who came from both the West and the North side of Europe.DISCUSSIONTo be an American is not only prestigious but it also means one has the rights available to him unlike the rest of the world. The United States of America is a country that is based on the fact that its citizens have more freedom than anywhere else (Axelrod 44). Citizens have freedom of choosing their religion, and in spite of American citizen having a Christian background, citizens are not forced to be Christians whether born as Christia ns or not.American citizens are entitled to the freedom education as opposed to places particularly in the Middle East and the Far East, where girls dont have even chances to attend a school like boys and compete for favorably in the job market. In America learned women are not stigmatized and are given even footage in the job market like men as Americans are not gender biased (Ira and Arnold 239). Americans also can marry the choice of their heart regardless of their sexual orientation, ethnicity or religious background. In other countries in the parts of the world, young girls are forced into marriages, so as to bring a fortune to their families, and some are even betrothed to the people they will marry at an early stage and hence they dont have the freedom to choose the people they love for a hand in marriage. In America homosexuality is legal, and even gay partners have the freedom to marry one another for it is an accepted norm unlike in other countries where gay marriages and homosexuality are highly prohibited (Fox Tobias 14).Americans have the freedom of speech which is the most crucial thing to embrace democracy.
